  1. Like Qeight clearly explained, this isn’t about powerful stuff or broken stuff, but rather illegal combinations. You are basing your argument on the strength of some sets, but here the discussion is about if some sets should at all be possible.

Having PRO’s own tiers would be the best thing, I agree, but I also think we should stick with the way the people who invented the game and were paid to do so for many generations intended the game to be played, instead of keeping stuff that exists out of a random chance in this particular game.

I want to stress that you repeating this stuff about uncoded and too powerful stuff IS NOT what this poll is about. Please read it again carefully

Bro, you're the one misunderstanding my post. This is not about banning 1 thing. I gave an example to clarify PRO has his own metagame, based on what is coded or not. It makes 0 sense to look anywhere for knowing what to ban, which is the whole point of my message. Please read again carefully.

  2. op idea bro :SquirtleSquad:

rerolls right now are too expensive and 0 sense for non rich people to look for 31 speed mons. it doesn't have too much sense to just have 1 free lock but maybe it could be a thing to pay 10 coin more for each iv locked? idk this is what should be discussed, the whole thing is a must imo, rr tickets mechanic right now is obsolete af

  3. After discussing it for a few days we decided to not ban Manaphy, to not ban Damp Rock and to not ban rain.

I'll give you guys a short explanation of stuff said during our discussion.

"If you ban one metagame, another will just become stronger and take it's place"

Having played PRO for years myself, this is a fairly accurate statement. The metagame shifts with PRO, new items/moves/abilities get coded, new spawns are added, spawns are changed, mechanic updates etc. If any of the above gets banned then something else will simply take its place.

"So I see no reason to ban something that is competitive and not overpowered"

This is indeed a strong point in our discussion, are Manaphy/Damp Rock/Rain teams overpowered or are they simply just strong competitively? The answers is the later, they are strong but not broken to an extend where there is no counter play.

"It is strong, not broken but facing it countless times every month/pvp session is just a joke."

We believe that obviously it does cause frustration but so does Chansey, Blissey, Clefable, (old Talonflame) and and and, we can't ban something just because it is annoying to play against. The same reason why would not ban stall or stall Pokemon. It is fairly common to call for bans because the Pokemon in itself is frustrating to deal with but if your team is prepared you can beat it, same goes for rain teams. You have to adapt to the metagame to succeed.

Last strong point we have is that the PvP update is right around the corner and banning something now would make simply make no sense. However once every PvP related update is released we want to be more open to these types of discussions but more to that another time.

    Kind regards,

    Q8

This is how we adapt. If they go dirty, we go dirty. Awesome metagame.

  4. After all this said, wanted to bring a bit different POV. We've been said that Mods are not baised anymore (sorry for saying the forbidden word). If that's true, why such a fear to make a fair and healthy Council? You can also apply your "teaching techniques", do a test for some weeks or whatever you want but please, there are still players that want to make the game better.

Trust your players, make interviews, get players that reached many times ladder with high winrates, or just ask destro and mama to make the council (not IMO: most succesfull players both in ladder and tourneys - IMO: better players left). Whatever you want. Put rules to PvP Council members to avoid any possibility of abuse. But trust your players.

In addition to that, PvP Council is even more important if some Pokemon / Moves / Abilities are missing. Two examples:

    - Conkeldurr: Extremeley powerfull in PRO, good mon in OU meta but not that much used in Showdown. Why? Among other things, the absence of the Forces of Nature Legenary Trio (Particullary Landorus-T) makes him an extremely hard to deal with threat in PRO Ecosystem.

    - Klefki: Less known technique but still a hard abuse of what it is non coded properly, and can be extremely frustrating. Since Prankster is not well coded, you can actually Defog with Klekfi no matter what Pokemon you're facing.

That's why PvP Council is a must and PARTICULARLY in PRO, of course, even if Battle Rework is incoming.

All this been said, Staff Members MUST interfere in PvP Council in order to keep it in the right way but also help them to reach their objectives, and of course, allow them to play PvP lol. (I've seem some post arguing they should not and it0s hillarious to me)

    Kind regards,

  5. Hi, thank you to elty and akalli for bringing such arguments. I joined PRO 3 years ago, nothing of this was contemplated. Before stating any personal opinion, it is a FACT that a good amount of players we disagree on how the game we love has evolved. That's already a point and I would be really disappointed if you repply saying that also a good amount of people agree with how you act.

I do not want this to run in circles so I'll be clear.

    1) I agree that people with potential to be a good moderator should have a second chance (with some limits). SAME stuff goes for players, EVERY player, and of course, an explanation must be given in case of ban, always. I did some mistakes in the past and I'm grateful for having been forgiven, I would like every player to have such a treat.

    2) BUT I also have witnessed an unfair and unmesured abuse of power of some mods, wich literally have banned me for saying gg in battle chat. The most incredible bans I have suffer/seen are most of them from the same person. I'm not gonna say his name but it starts with an "E", and it ends with "piales". Read how many people is complaining about this, can't be a coincidence.

    3) I know you have nothing to do with Teerav stuff but I want to say 2 things. First one is that when I first talked about how slowly and chaotic his tourney was I got the same commentary by different people: "He also scammed me". On the other hand, In a nation with an entrenched bill of rights or a written constitution, ex post facto legislation may be prohibited.

    4) Healthy beef makes PART of tournaments and you don't know how much encourages players. I feel like ladder tournament atmosphere is too boring and stressed right now. The issue I had with Glogs is, in some way, a good example of it.

Thank you for the reading my intention is none but trying to give some feedback on the game I loved and sorry if some of my points have already been explained I read the vaste majority.

  7. Manaphy is incredibly strong and destroys stall you are right. But it is not impossible to beat. Manaphy is no godly fast. Fast physical and spatker can weaken manaphy into manageable. Also, manaphy needs health preservation. Sadly the teams manaphy beat are mainly defensive. Banded weavile, gengar, alakazam and other come in a shred manaphy if it is speed and spatk invested. There is also unaware clefable and combined with chansey can out stall it. Another option is haze milotic, or roar/whirlwind. Finally klefki can be used to seriously hinder its performance. Checks are out there, you just arent using the right ones. A check in not always defensive, sometimes you much look at revenge killers

I believe banning or nerfing RAIN in any way will have an impact on manaphy, and should be more than enough. But as you talking of Manaphy's weaknesses ima explain you a daily situation. Imagine a manaphy setting up 1 or 2 tailglows without any counterplay on your special wall (99.9% of the cases). Then I agree it could be nice if you could revenge kill since its not too fast, with any of your fast sweepers. BUT since you dont oneshot him with not even a thunderbolt from most of the Electric types, imagine with the rest. So your gonna need rather raikou specs or 2 fast mons to revenge kill him. That's what it extremely annoying: team building around 1 mon (yes, we could also discuss ferro/conk etc) and the obvious upgrade to rain wich was already busted.

That means you lost 1 of your fast sweepers (knowing you have 2, otherwise you are ripperoni) and your special wall so then comes kingdra and its the most comparable situation of karthus pressing R and killing them all i ever seen on this game.

    Have a nice day

  8. have you consider the hypothetical scenario of me joking and being perfectly aware that rain/manaphy is damn busted and should be banned? prolly conk also btw

Ive already explained the rain issue before so if you havent read this thread i recommend checking out pages 3 to 5 to get a full comprehension as to why rain isnt the problem here, a tl;dr version is simply that rain just doesnt have the requirements to be effective at every matchup, not without manaphy, its usage is quite abundant that is true however, that doesnt signify its viability, i reckon most of its usage simply comes to the easy learning of playing rain, fast games and even the accessibility of these pokemon being quite good such as pelipper and kingdra. Banning manaphy however would mean that rain's main wallbreaking/stallbreaking power would be gone, making it an easier matchup for bulkier archtypes like stall or fat balances, evening out the playing field a bit. It would also be much less of a mess than banning an entire playstyle.

That is completely nonsensical, youre basically just hindering any pokemon that takes advantage of those moves even outside of rain, which are a lot mind you, tentacruel, starmie, quagsire, mantine, slowbro/king and so on. Even on the hypothetical scenario where rain could be considered broken and ban-worthy, banning the entire playstyle would leave the meta much less limiting than getting rid of those specific moves.

Also i would appreciate if there were no bump posts in this thread, i understand you want to keep this discussion relevant or catch the eyes of other people, but please do it in a meaningfull way where more can be talked about and not just a filler post, thank you.
