I'm new player and I find this very helpful, but I don't understand why Oddish, Also pikachu can be found near the start so it would make more sense to take one of usual 3 starters and catch pikachu.

Hello. My name is Ivan and I come from Croatia. I started playing this game yesterday and I really like it so far. I've been playing pokemon since i was 10 or so, but it was mostly playing for few weeks a year, or even less. My favourite generation is 3rd, probably because the first pokemon game I played was Pokemon Sapphire, and i spent most of my pokemon time on 3rd generation. There are a lot of features and it's not that easy to memorize/understand everything so expect few (probably stupid) questions in future (Before you say it I noticed game guide section but mostlikely there will be some misunderstandings). Hmm, what else to say, my favourite pokemon is, hmmmm, Blaziken (hard decision). That's all, I hope I didn't bother/annoy you guys too much. Have fun :D
