  1. Hey there, I already posted this in the Complaint Area, but that forum is basically dead, as the only post there is mine. So I decided to post it here. First of all - this game is amazing. You guys did an impressive job, keep up the good work. This game is exactly what I've been looking for. A big thanks to all developers. However, I've been playing the game for about a week now and I just couldn't help collecting a list of minor and major annoyances in my head that I badly needed to write down. First of all - the experience bar. Dear god, what a mess. As I see it, when you select a move, the result of the entire turn is calculated immediately. That's alright I guess, as long as the player doesn't notice. So here's an example: You select a move and your Pokémon attacks the enemy. The text is displayed and health bars are updated and animated. All fine and good. However, if that move kills your enemy and you're eagerly looking at the experience bar, you see ... nothing at all. Because the [Censored] XP gain is displayed immediately, while everything else is not. You select your move, gain experience immediately if it would kill the enemy (taking away some of the suspense), then the health values are updated and combat text is displayed AND ONLY THEN the level calculations are done. Wow. A level up that is so tightly related to XP gain is done at a completely different time. But nope, that's not all. If the move that's about to kill the enemy will also level you up AND level you up to a level where you learn a new move, well ... The move learning dialog pops up immediately. I'm sure you all know it and I think it's a huge pain in the [Censored]. Will this be fixed someday? Is it actually even planned to be fixed? Second, the music. Maybe it's just my opinion but I like my routes fixed to a specific track. Every route should always play the same song and not select it randomly. Also, caves, buildings, cities, wild battle themes and... well, you name it. Just take the original games' music and map it to the original places. Especially caves or mysterious areas lose so much of their atmosphere when they're playing a happy route 1 "I just began my first adventure and I'm so excited"-music. Gym leader themes would be nice, too. There are another few minor flaws with the battle UI. You're spending most of your time there, after all. Why not make it nice and polished? I'd love to see the combat menu left open between attacks. After you've selected a move, the move selection window collapses and you have to click "Combat" again. Why not just leave it open and save a click every time? Most of the time, you'll just select another move anyway, so this would definitely come in handy. There are two panels after all, so make use of them! Another nice to have feature would be the automatic selection of the Pokémon panel after your Mon fainted. You know, just like in the games. Any other option doesn't even make sense in that situation, except maybe run in wild battles, which doesn't actually work right now. Also, the UI scaling setting always resets if you reopen the game (Windows version). Why are there no actual Engine Development positions open, by the way? All I could find were Moderators, Mappers, Scripters and Artists. I'd love to be able to contribute to the game's core. Also, have you ever thought about going Open Source? I'm sure you'd receive lots of cool pull requests on GitHub. I might have forgotten one or two things, but these were definitely my biggest complaints. Let me hear what you think. And please don't take this the wrong way, I'm loving the game so far! edit: Nope, there's another big one: The movement system feels a bit clunky. If you keep pressing one button (d, for example) and simultaneously hit another direction (s), I expect the new direction to override the old one. Currently, it doesn't work that way because there's a specific order in which directions override each other. If you're going up, you can't go anywhere else without releasing the button. This also applies to touch controls in a slightly different way. Regards qelix
