I'm just looking for a generous trade for a water-type or something decent just to get past Brock, and possibly even keep throughout my adventure.

yup for real, best option is poliswag, what is your starter ?

We've all had to do it o; It makes the game too easy and dull when you try to take the easy way out. =/ I suggest doing it on your own, anyways. Where's the fun in the game if you don't work for it yourself? Find a Mankey or a Budew. If your starter is Charmander, wait until lvl 17 to battle Brock- that's when Charmeleon learns Dragon Rage (automatically takes down 40 HP of opponent which is a lot at low lvls).

Lol, figures. I stopped leveling Charmeleon at lv 16.

I only got it, and Butterfree. I was gonna try to just Sleep Power and get lucky until I win.

But now that I know it learns Dragon Rage in this game at lv 17, I'll do that ^-^
