Unfortunately after catching one of the Legendary Dogs, you can no longer change to another one. This is because you are only able to catch one of the three legendary dogs. Releasing your Suicine will not make it so you can catch another. However, I can recover your Suicine for you regardless. Would you like me to do that instead? As I stated, you already caught one of the dogs therefore you can't turn it in and change your dog anymore. You had the option to change your dog once during the quest.
