Please do note that the 216 walking steps happiness does not work if you are on a land mount. This is probably why you are not gaining as much happiness as you think, if you are using a mount. However, this works with normal water mounts (not jet-skiis). If you need more on happiness, please check out our Happiness Guide. Hope this has clarified things for you.
