Norbi
Imagine how cool this would be if it's done right and enough effort is put into it. I see a lot of promise in PRO and its staff, so I don't think it wouldn't be achievable. I'll explain the key features below and the rest of the community can sharpen it. What is it? The Annual PRO World Championship would be held one time a year for PRO's most fearsome trainers. The tournament would take several days, every round of it taking up one day since there would be more than a few contestants. When is it? Preferable in late July or early August, since that's when most people get their vacation and the most activity is to be expected. Who can compete? This is the part not decided yet, or at least I couldn't come up with a solution to this... I'm sure the staff know how it's best to decide here. I would highly suggest that choosing trainers based off on online time or something ridiculously stupid like that would just encourage game-time leeching or cheating, so we'll need to come up with something smart for this. What's the prize? Every competition has a prize, right? This one should be a real nice one since the tournament is unique, would be official and happens once in a year. I was personally thinking about a cool little custom hat or something handed to the winner aside from some IG cash or a unique Pokémon, but this would be up to PRO's staff in the end. This project needs lots and lots of work still, and I'm willing to put effort into it to help it be a thing. (It's my suggestion after all, no? ) Other than that, I know how PRO is still in beta and all that, but don't just hit me with a "we're looking for other suggestions at the moment" again, because this feature or project doesn't have to be added tomorrow, not even next week or next month. We have plenty of time to work on this and think about it, I just want it to be thrown out there for the public to have a look at and share opinions and help improve and develop it. Zero
This would be a great addition once all movesets are fixed :) Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/10972-the-annual-pro-world-championship/#findComment-89399 Share on other sites

Norbi
Yeah, it still needs lots of work. Not just the project itself but whatever else is required for it, like movesets or even animations to give it a better feel when it actually happens. Anyway, I'm glad I can see people supporting this and hope there will be more. You guys should also focus on coming up with ideas for features of the project which haven't been stated yet and I'll edit the first post if the idea is... ideal. Memoire: viewtopic.php?t=16795 "You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game." - Marshall Mathers III Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/10972-the-annual-pro-world-championship/#findComment-89401 Share on other sites
Sparklylemonade
This is a good idea, however. From experience of online tournaments (one of which had about 150 players in), I encountered several problems which I think will be relevant here: Time Zones are a major issue, lining up people's free time is difficult, especially if you're giving them a short period of time to do it. I still had issues while giving people 48 hours to complete their matches. Server crashes can also be a problem; a rematch will never be the same as the initial, since you knowtheir, pokemon, their movesets, their lead, their playstyle and can play against it. Also to a lesser extent, you have the "whoops I DCed" person. Though eventually I just said one DC and you're out (although it's easier to tell who DCed on PRO than DS). Set-in-stone ban lists are usually a thing, but you need to consider if you need one? Yes, there's no legendaries, but we all know the current meta is very small on PRO, and it'll be the same pokemon in every team; maybe have a list of "You are limited to 2 pokemon from this list" type of thing. Either way, ensure the rules are fair, and make it competitive for everyone. Norbi
I agree with mostly all you said, Sparky. However, since this is supposed to be a hardcore event I don't see how time difference would be so bad. We can give each round a day or two to finish. The game is also available on Android phones and tablets, so that makes it easier too. On the other hand, what might and might not be allowed for this tournament is entirely up to how fixed every move and how nerfed very Pokémon gets by the time all of this is going to be a thing. We can set limitations when the staff agrees to doing this. I tried to ignore the DC issue... but let's have a go at it anyway. :Bored: If the server crashes, it's an obvious re-match. (And please note that by the time this tournament catches fire, PRO won't be in beta anymore and crashes won't happen daily). Plus what mostly happens on PRO is ragequits, ragequits and ragequits. Oh and the occasional "I'll disconnect from this one because this dude is too noob.". It's very rarely an actual disconnect. For what the rules would be for people that DO disconnect miraculously? I don't know, that's why this thread is up and that's why I want people's opinions and feedback.
