I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

I would like to inform you that, as you stated, Macho Brace doubles any effort values that are obtained by the Pokémon holding it during a battle.

However, as a counterbalance, during a battle it also halves the speed of Pokémon holding it. Take note that the speed of the Pokémon holding is halved only during a battle, therefore the item affect only your in-battle speed and not your IV or EV speed points.

Having a lower speed in-battle means that, if the enemy Pokémon has higher speed than your, then your Pokémon will attack after the enemy one.
