Propose for competitive PvP

Featured Replies

Today i played two games in pvp which took me over 1h total...my opponents were using stall teams (they were not stalling, they were using team full of tanky pokes and no sweepers)...I am sure that this kind of players try to take advantage of the fact that some of us don t have infinite time to pvp...So in their way they provoke their opponent to abandon the game or waste 40 minutes in order to win...To eradicate this kind of behavior i propose to put a time limit in games, like 15 or 20 per game...If this limit is exceeded then the game will be considered a tie and no points or coins will be awarded to either side....

Hi Stavd,

Thank you for taking the time for filling in a complaint about our ranked PvP system, If you don't mind I would like to address some of your concerns regarding the system.

1. With regard to player's using "stall" teams unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about this because it is a legitimate strategy, there are many legitimate strategies players can use to win a PvP match. Some of these include weather teams, Hyper offensive teams, balanced teams, bulky offensive teams, hazard teams and of course stall teams plus much more. We cannot impose a strict "no stall" teams rule because to do so would take away from the competitive scene. May i suggest you trying using Pokemon that would be considered "stall breakers" these might help you combat some of these teams. In addition You should always make sure you have enough time to play out an entire game of Pokemon as some games do exceed the 30min even 40min time.

2. With regards to your suggestion this would not work for a number of reasons but the most obvious one is that a system that immediately ended in a draw after 15-20 mins is very easily abused. Players who start to lose their game could then quite easily time stall until the match ended in a draw. imagine a scenario where you are winning a match and have knocked out 3 of your opponents Pokemon, your opponent know's they cannot win the match so instead of losing graciously they instead decide to use stalling moves for another 5 mins and the game is forced into a draw due to time. I hope you can see how this would be very bad for the competitive aspect. This would result in almost every game ending in a draw, which is really not what we want to see happen.

I hope this has addressed some of your concerns and if you have any more queries regarding these matters please feel free to comment them below.

Regards,

Gambit.
