Whenever rocks r put on and say ur poke has very little hp and if u switch in ur poke will die from stealthrock damage if u use a move then the move inflicts damage and pokemon is subjected to recoil damage of life orb. For example yesterday my opponent used painsplit with rotom and i switchd into gengar which was supposed to die frm rocks but since he used painsplit my gengar gained some hp and didnt die of rocks. Another example is my opponent in presence of rocks switched into peliper with less than 10%hp and i used iceshard with weavile. His peliper died from rocks but my weavile took life orb damage.
