I caught a ralts (Sync) but when I entered a battle with it the ability turned into trace. Could someone help me turn it back into sync?

Most likely the Ralts traced your Sync poke, that’s why u saw it had Sync abi when u caught it. It will revert back to Trace after a few min/relogging.

I think in your case, your first pokemon in your party while catching the ralts was a sync pokemon.

As trace ability copies the opponent pokemon's ability, it should have copied your sync ability.

The pokemon card shows the copied ability for awhile, so you should have mistaken that your ralts has a sync ability.
