Guest Chippy
Hello! I just wanted to report your first meeting with Jackson includes an incorrect term. I noticed Jackson mentions "It is a travesty that a Pokemon under my control would underperform so badly...". Your team clearly meant to use the term tragedy(Also is 'underperform so badly' not a little redundant?). I have only played for about an hour or so, before the server had to be reset, but I have noticed a lot of conversations are using words that, while not incorrect, are pretty unusual for casual conversation. I am wondering if the teams first language is English, or perhaps the creator of the dialogue is being too informal with his work. This is, of course, subjective, but I figured I would mention it. In my opinion, travesty is the exact word that the writer was looking for to build Jackson's personality. Jackson is an arrogant, egotistical character who views himself as the center of the universe. By calling the situation a travesty, he is referring to his Pokemon's performance as a "false, absurd, or distorted representation of" his ability as a trainer. While the word tragedy could also be used here, it would represent a completely different feeling. I would actually argue that sometimes Jackson's dialogue is a bit too formal. As you progress through the game, you will notice that many writers, with various writing styles, worked together to create the story line. Guest Chippy
I do see where you are coming from. It was not exactly a knee-jerk reaction, but I did not think of it as being a travesty to his prowess. It does seem like it is the word intended after re-reading it a bunch of times, perhaps the sentence just rubs me the wrong way. I have definitely noticed a big difference in each writers lexicon. It is just jarring when most of the in-game chat users can't spell words correctly, while the NPC is speaking to me like I am at a lecture. I appreciate the man named Pretentious replying to me. No sarcasm intended! I apologize if my (now obviously)subjective post comes across as bitter, or unwarranted.
