I'm thinking about switching to blue server, but if I do that I would want to get membership and a mount right at the start. If I log in and buy the mount, can I use it immediately or do I need to do some other task first?

Mounts can be used immediately, but beware buying the water-based mounts because they require access to Surf to use. That's not listed on the store and I bought Magikarp for blue for basically no reason until I reach the safari zone.

Yes you can buy and use a mount in the begining of the story (since you are moving from red to blue server you'll need to buy one for blue server, you can't transfer membership / mounts). Like said just before if you are planning on buying a water mount you'll still need to have the HM surf to use it

Well i bought membership on red (just started playing a few days ago) and I have no problem supporting them in what they are doing for buying a mount/membership on blue. Even though i'm a poor college student, $10 spent is 2-3 times i just have to eat at home instead of at a fast food place. Everyone should think this way btw. Support them so they keep creating great content!
