How to make PRO a social MMO

Featured Replies

I agree with the person above. this new gen of gamers are rather antisocial. It's why most mmos make the majority of their content soloable. People really prefer to play alone. So in my honest opinion your cafe idea won't really change anything. And I type that with a frown on my face because the number one reason I play mmos is to make friends.

130136 Also it's kind of annoying that PMs appear in a pop up in the middle of the screen.

I think they did that so that you wouldnt miss a PM but I understand your point aswell its annoying at some points

130136 Why would people go to these cafes? I think you have a misunderstanding of how social interaction in MMOs works. People won't waste their time standing in a room with nothing to do. If you want to improve social interaction you need to give people a reason to interact.

The biggest problem is there is no real reason to interact with other players right now. If they added something like 2 person double battles then it would give you a reason to make social connections with other players. Also, the chat functions in the game are really bad currently. The local chat channel gets spammed by every chat channel you are a member of, so it's unusuable. Custom chat channels are unusable because they get deleted when the people using them log out. Also it's kind of annoying that PMs appear in a pop up in the middle of the screen.

Rather than creating areas for you to socialise, they should improve the chat functions so it's easier to interact with other players when playing the game.

You shouldn't be talking for everyone with phrases like "people won't", this is your experience of a small sample of gamers, I have my sample of gamers in which thousands of people (to be clear, I consider this a small sample as well as it's just personnal experience) spent thousands of hours sitting and chatting in places designed for it in MMO's. Same for the person under you, you shouldn't generalize this much, and this goes for every single time in your life. Even I prefer to play alone in a game which was designed to be played alone with very little changes to make it social. It seems you guys underestimate the influence of the environment on behaviors. As you stated, the reason why you prefer to play solo might be because of in game features.

However I agree with the point that the chat sux. but I am no pro in ergonomy

Fantastic idea! I'd love to see a social interaction cafe in this game!

130305 Well, how about having some mission in game with require the confirm team (2-5 people) do different task and then confirm to specific NPC for completed task?

Is that good for MMO interaction between players?

That is, but the game is still in beta, and I'm no good at coding but I guess it would take a while to both think through and code, so I guess this would be a very late add ! I'm all in for it, but I'm not GM anyways !

I've honestly in 50 hours only seen two people speak in Local chat and it's pretty disappointing. I support this. I'd like to socialize with other people as well, but at the current state, it's futile unless you're in a closely knit guild.

"Tonight... Gehrman joins the hunt...."

A TeamSpeak 3 server would be an awesome idea.

How about adding some RP ... ?
