I tried to catch zapdos then the game crashed. Now i cant see zapdos in the spot he stands and cant catch him. Is there any way to get him back or is trading the only option for me now.

Don't worry you wouldn't be able to catch him anyway, only get his information for the pokedex. If you couldn't get the pokedex data, then just go to oak's lab and talk to the computer to get the data

Well, you can't catch Zapdos, you can only defeat him for 100k exp, so you lost 100k exp, and there is no way to get it back. You might check if you have Zapdos as seen in your pokedex, if not, use the PC in Oak's lab in Pallet to get it as "seen" in pokedex, it's needed for some end-game quests.

Gconcept is right. You experienced what we refer to as a "roll back". Since the game saves intermittently, occasionally the loss of items, Pokemon, and Pokedex data can occur. Unfortunately, in this case, you lost out on the chance to get a lot of XP.
