Similar legendary quests do exist in this game. I am listing you some out of which some are permanent quests and some are event exclusive like Darkrai quest.

 

Permanent quests that mostly depend on your story progress (for example, you can only do Celebi quest after you finish Johto along with completion of the Kanto and Johto Dex and a number of evolution entries) include :

•  Mew
• Celebi
• Jirachi
• Latios/Latias (Eon Duo)
• Suicune/Entei/Raikou (Legendary Beasts)
• Kyurem
• Manaphy
• Landorus/Tornadus/Thundurus (Forces of Nature)
• Heatran
• Azelf/Uxie/Mesprit (Lake Trio)
• Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno (Legendary Birds)
• Genesect
• Volcanion
• Registeel, Regice and Regirock
• Victini
• Zekrom
• Keldeo quest

 

You can find the guides on how to do these quests on the Legendary Megathread. For the rest, guides can be found on YouTube pretty easily, and some on the Wiki. All of these are permanent quests so you can catch them anytime of the year. 

 

Some event exclusive quests can be : 

• Shaymin quest during Easter event.
• Light Stone, needed for getting Reshiram from the Dragonspiral Tower can be obtained in the Xmas event Dungeon only.
• Baby XD001 or Baby Shadow Lugia quest can only be done in the Halloween event.
• Latias/Latios Summer form quest can be done during the Summer event.
