I need help looking through Bill's entire house but the book doesn't seem to be under his pillow.

Hello there! Please try talking to the Bill NPC again and see what he tells you. If he says "I have lost my research book somewhere in my lab here..." this should prompt that the book will now be under his pillow. It is also possible that you have already picked up the research book in which case talking to Bill will give you a S.S Anne Ticket to board the ship.
