Axe missing from inventory after challenging johto elite 4

i bought my axe a few years ago and was pretty pumped to see all of my items and cosmetics waiting for me, i used the axe for a few hours in game then went to challange the johto elite 4, after leaving the elite 4 i noticed i can no longer cut unless one of my pokemon knows the move.
now ive looked over my own inventory and my pokemons and i cant seem to find the axe. plz help!

i understand that an axe isnt all that big of an purchase but im wanting to buy the rest of the tools. im just hoping this gets resolved soon or i may have to reconsider donating more money to this game.

Just to be sure, when you say "after leaving the elite 4 i noticed i can no longer cut unless one of my pokemon knows the move", do you mean that you won against the Elite 4 and then started the Hoenn region right afterwards? Or did you mean that after either winning or loosing against the Elite 4, you had to try to go somewhere requiring to Cut a tree and you were not able to and that is where you noticed your Tree Axe was missing?

I have looked into your recent Trades and did not see any Tree Axe anywhere, and I also checked your Inventory, no sucess there either. This leads me to believe that maybe, inadvertly, your Tree Axe was placed as held item on a Pokémon that could be in your Boxes. I would kindly ask you to thoroughly check every Pokémon in your Boxes for held items, maybe starting with the ones you might have been using around the time you realised you couldn't use Cut anymore. If after a thorough check you still cannot find your Tree Axe, kindly come back and mention it here so we can proceed with further assistance.

after beating the elite 4 i realized the axe was missing while exploring, i didnt go to hoenn right away.

I just looked through all of my pokemon twice and none of them have items in my box currently, the ones in my inventory do not have the axe either.

When you were using your axe, do you remember if it was in your bag or if was as a held item on a Pokemon?

 

Also do you remember if you used any move that switches items with the opponent around the time you lost your axe?

i dont think i had any trainer battles but honestly its kind of hard for me to remember at this point.
ive never given the axe to a pkmn so it shouldve stayed in my bag

If the axe was a holding item and you switched it with opponent Pokemon, it shouldn't stay in you. Doesn't matter wild encounter or trainer. Only bosses return your holding item after the battle. That is if you used such a move during some battle tho. 

 

If you remember which Pokemon you had in your party, and you haven't changed their moveset since then, then you can find out if you have a move like that, even tho you may not remember.

 

If it was in your bag and not a holding item, then something else must've happened to it.
