Last time I opened a topic here on the forum about a shiny Weezing that gave explosion and now Graveler that gave explosion. Until when? To prevent this happening a third time, it may indeed be worth preparing a Pokemon with the Damp ability. This ability would prevent a wild Pokemon from successfully exploding or self-destructing. Simply, switch in the Damp Pokemon if you suspect a wild Pokemon you wish to catch may use Explosion/Self-destruct and these moves will fail. I hope this helps.
