Zeytal
Hey guys, I have this issue where the data provided by Profs don't match the data in the dex, regarding the caught (609) vs owned (541) pokemon. Is it due to the pokemons I released ? Is it possible to fix this ? Or do I have to make the list of the poke I released by comparing all my PC boxes and my dex, and then recatch them ? Thaloras
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. There is no bug here, lets go through it step-by-step: Owned data - This number shows the amount of pokemon you are currently in possession of. It is the total number of the pokemon that are in your PC. Seen data - The number of the pokemon you have encountered so far, it shows 671 both on the Pokedex and in the NPC dialogue. Caught data - The number of the pokemon you have caught so far. You can get that information only by talking with the NPC's. Using your Pokedex, you can see which pokemon you have caught and which of ones you are missing. It's marked with a pokeball next to the pokemon icon in your dex. In conclusion, Pokedex shows "Owned" data, not "Caught" data, which are completely different. I hope this information helps! If you have any other questions or doubts, let me know. Best regards, Thaloras. Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/257427-pokedex-bug/#findComment-1578304 Share on other sites
Zeytal Posted yesterday at 07:57 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 07:57 AM (edited) Hi Thaloras, thank you for your swift reply. However I tried something there : there was no tentacool nor tentacruel in my PC and I caught a wild tentacool. However the number "Owned" in the pokedex didn't increase. How come ? Also I was wondering : if I have a charizard in my PC, does it count as 1 owned or 3 (for the full evolution line) ? Also, make sure we don't mix "Owned" displayed in the pokedex and "Total Pokemon" in the trainer card, which is much lower (around 380 for me right now) and is the exact amount of pokemon in my PC I think that, bottom line, my main question is : how do I make "Owned" and "Caught" match ? Thaloras Posted yesterday at 09:07 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:07 AM So, every single pokemon in your PC counts as 1. If you have 30 Charizards, it counts as 30 pokemon "Owned", but it counts as 3 pokemon in "Caught" data if you evolved it from Charmander. Owned data just shows you the total number of pokemon in your PC. If you release a pokemon or trade it, that number goes down again. Caught data is just showing you how many different pokemon you had at any point of the game, while Owned data shows you how many pokemon you have in your PC right now. If you want to match Caught and Owned data, you would need to catch every Pokemon, and have only 1 of each in your PC (Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard...), which is very impractical. It can be a fun challenge for the alt account or something. Zeytal Posted yesterday at 11:53 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 11:53 AM I think you confuse "Owned" in the Pokedex with "Total Pokemon" in the trainer card "Total Pokemon" represents indeed the number of pokemons in my PC (where 25 natu = 25 pokemon in this total) and is equal to 389 in my case "Owned" in the Pokedex is equal to 572 in my case. Also, once again I did a test : I had no tentacool nor tentacruel in my PC (but I had caught data), I went and caught one of each and the "Owned" number did not change. Only the "Total Pokemon" in the trainer card increased. Are you sure there is no bug here ? Thaloras Posted yesterday at 12:16 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:16 PM Hey, thank you very much for correcting me, I made a misstake. It's not a bug, but it's also not what I said it was. So, in conclusion, Owned data shows the number of the pokeballs you have next to the pokemon icons in your dex, while Caught data shows the total number of the individual pokemon you caught/owned at any point. The difference comes when you catch a regional variant of a pokemon, like Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian... In that case, those pokemon do not have their own spot in the Pokedex, but they are connected to the original variant of that pokemon. That is where you get the difference between Caught data and Owned data. For examlpe, if you want to search for Alolan-Ninetales, you can find it connected to the same dex entry as the Kantonian Ninetales. I apologize for the earlier messages, I was misstaken about it. Also, there is no way for you to make the Caught and Owned data match, you can only make the difference larger by catching all regional variants in the game. I hope this information helps. Zeytal Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM I hear you, this makes much more sense ! Therefore from the figures on my screen one could assume I caught 68 variants. Does that include shinies and event forms ? It seems to me it exceeds the reality, but I won't dig it. Does that mean that once one catches all the variants, the number of "Caught" exceeds the number of "Seen" ? Thaloras Posted yesterday at 03:22 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:22 PM Yes, you caught around 70% of the available variants. No, it does not include shinies and event forms, only regional forms or different pokemon forms, like Keldeo or Kami trio(Keldeo has Resolute form, and Kami trio has Therian forms) Not at this moment, there are pokemon that you can obtain Seen data, but not Caught data. Current maximum should be: Owned - 746 Seen - 756 Evolved - 370 Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/257427-pokedex-bug/#findComment-1578655 Share on other sites
Zeytal
I am very surprised then, because I haven't caught any regional form except for an alolan sandshrew (didn't even evolve it) Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/257427-pokedex-bug/#findComment-1578954 Share on other sites
