When you attempted to fight Cynthia, did you only attempt to start the fight by interacting with Cynthia? After some research, I've seen players needing to move 1 step further left, so there is a gap between you and Cynthia, which seems to trigger a response from her, and starts the battle (assuming you're there at the correct time with 255 happiness). Please try walking in that position to start the fight. If it does not occur, please screenshot it for me. I look forward to your response! Once you're back at 255, you should hopefully be good to go.
