Valentine island Cleffable quest bug

I don't if it's a bug or I am missing something but I am not able to progress further in the quest as I need to find the 3 crystals.

when I go to the lake to get the crystals, it does nothing. If I talk again to Jerome or Jester, they keep repeating their part of the quest.

I didn't log out in between and I can't progress further even though I talked to both jerome and jester still can't get the crystals.

Note- I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum as I am new to posting here.

Update on the topic-

I don't know how but the npc dialogue of professor changed and I was able to progress but when I encountered the valentine clefable I didn't expected it be lv80 and my whole team fainted so how do I obtain it 

Do I have to battle nikola or do I have to redo the quest next year

I don't wanna do the quest next year .
