[Tool] PRO Hunting Tool - Shiny Overlay Tracker - (Mobile Version Coming Soon)

Featured Replies

[Tool] Shiny Tracker Overlay — v3 beta

logo-dark.png

Shiny Tracker Overlay is a free screen-reading companion for hunting. It watches only the small parts of the game window that you choose during calibration. It does not inject into the game, control the game, click anything, or play for you.

This does not inject or automate anything with the game, it simply reads the screen, specifically text found on the screen, and relays that information to the program. It is safe to use.

The app can record encounters, show measured spawn rates, alert for hunting targets, keep a searchable catch list, total IVs for catch quests, calculate catch probability, and export hunt summaries.

Important beta warning: detection is approximate and shiny detection is still experimental.
Always check the game yourself before leaving or running from a valuable encounter.

## Download ##

Windows 10/11, 64-bit — v3:

Mac and Linux in development
(Need a beta tester on these systems would be nice)

https://github.com/KaizenMMO/shinytracker-builds/releases

image.png

## Installation ##

Extract the ZIP into a normal writable folder, keep the _internal folder next to ShinyTrackerOverlay.exe, and run the EXE. Python is not required. Because the beta is unsigned, Windows may show SmartScreen. Only choose **More info > Run anyway** if you trust the downloaded file.
Once installed it has a built in auto-updater function, so no need to download a new link.

## Privacy and safety ##

Hunt history, settings, learned corrections and calibration stay on your PC.

- There is no account, subscription, advertising or automatic hunt-data upload.

- Species data and artwork are fetched from PokeAPI, competitive set advice is fetched from Smogon through pkmn.cc, and GitHub is checked for updates.

- Screenshots, reports and diagnostic ZIPs are created locally. Review them before choosing to share them because they can contain screen text.

- The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokemon Company.

## Quick setup ##

1. Open the game in windowed or borderless mode and enter a wild battle.

2. Open Settings in the tracker.

3. Name a client and press Calibrate zones.

4. Select the battle window, then drag the a box over the battle window. The app will auto assign the regions.
Works on any resolutions and multiple screens and clients. Can have 5 clients running at the same time.

5. Turn on Track now for that client.

6. Return to Hunt and press Start hunting.

## Settings and game clients ##

app_window.png
app_window.png
app_window.png
app_window.png

The Settings tab is arranged in a simple order: setup, behaviour, appearance, then support.

- Game clients: save up to five different calibrations and track any combination of them into one hunt.

- Text reading: shows whether OCR is ready and offers setup help if it is not.

- Alerts: choose separate sounds and volumes for shiny, event and ordinary target alerts.

- Accuracy & learning: decide whether confirmed pictures and corrections may help future reads. Everything learned stays local and can be forgotten.

- Appearance: choose a built-in theme, keep the tracker above the game, or create a theme from your own picture.

- Diagnostics: save screenshots and reports, preserve the last 60 seconds after a problem, or export a reviewable local ZIP for a bug report.

- Updates: manually check whether a newer Windows build is available.

## Hunt tab ##

app_window.png
app_window.png

image.png
image.png

This is the main hunting screen.

- On screen now: the latest detected Pokemon, level, target status, chain, rarity and time since it appeared.

- Session: give the hunt an optional name, choose the catch-calculator generation, then start or end recording.

- Pace: measured encounters per hour, average and longest gaps, current drystreak, and probability estimates based on the shiny rate you enter.

- Targets: add the species you care about and choose when it should alert: any encounter, shiny only, rare/event only, or one named form.

- Species seen: shows what actually appeared in this session. The bars are measured shares of your encounters, not published spawn rates.

Correct last fixes a wrong result and can teach the tracker. Undo last removes the latest count and can restore it until another encounter arrives.

The three-dot buttons beside species open the same correction tools for the most recent encounter of that species.
Recommended natures and abilities suggestions from Smogon when you hover over the Target.

## When the tracker is not sure ##

shiny-08-not-sure.png

The tracker does not silently guess when important evidence disagrees.

- Yes, it's [species]: confirms the displayed answer and teaches from it.

- No — fix it: opens the correction panel.

- Skip: leaves the encounter marked unsure so it can be reviewed later.

- Screenshot: saves the popup locally.

## Catch tools ##

app_window.png

The IV Tally is for catch quests where the six IVs of every catch are added together. Set a quest species and goal, or leave the species blank to use your hunt targets. Catches can be offered automatically or added by hand.

The Catch Probability card gives the chance for one throw. Choose the species, remaining HP, status condition and ball. Level and turn fields are used by the balls that need them. The generation selected on the Hunt tab chooses the formula.

## Checking a catch ##

popup-180317-no-taskbar.png

popup-180554-no-taskbar.png

popup.png

After the tracker reads a caught Pokemon's summary, check the six IVs and any nature, ability or region text before saving.

- Count it in the IV Tally: adds the IV total to the current quest tally.

- Keep it in my PC: stores the catch for later comparison.

- Draw again: takes another screenshot and lets you select the IV area again.

- Count and keep / Save: performs the selected actions.

- Cancel: discards the read.

## My PC ##

app_window.png

My PC is the permanent list of Pokemon you chose to keep. It is separate from the temporary IV Tally.
Search by species, nature, ability, region or note. Use the dropdowns and checkboxes to filter for shinies, battle-ready catches, Hidden Power, minimum
IV total. Use Select for removing several rows together, or the row X for one catch.
Clear PC removes the whole kept list only after confirmation; it does not erase the hunt log or IV Tally.

The Profile card summarises kept Pokemon, species, useful nature-and-ability matches, named forms, shinies and other lifetime details.

## Encounter log and totals ##

app_window.png

[The Log keeps every encounter in every session.

- Pick a past session or use Jump to live.

- Press a row's ... button, or right-click it, to confirm an unsure result,

correct it, mark or unmark shiny, remove a trainer/duplicate read, or delete it.

- Load 40 more shows older encounters from the selected session.

- Today / 7 days / 30 days / All time changes the period shown in Totals.

- Export the selected session as TXT, JSON or CSV.

- Hunt Card (.png) creates a shareable picture.

- Export ALL sessions .csv writes the complete lifetime encounter list.

- Clear this session removes only the selected session after confirmation.

- Clear ALL data removes all sessions and encounters after confirmation.

No export is uploaded automatically.

## Shareable hunt card ##

hunt_card_36.png.17ee9326333f7f491521075d439a6bdd.png

The Hunt Card is a compact image containing the session's headline numbers,

rare finds, measured species shares, targets and odds note. It uses the current

theme and is designed for posting after a hunt.

## Custom theme image editor ##

app_window.png
popup.png

image.png

Upload a PNG, JPG or WEBP in Settings and choose Generate Theme. The image

editor then lets you choose fill or fit, move the image, zoom it, and reduce its

strength so the tracker text stays readable. Save framing keeps the layout;

the original image is never edited.

## Feedback ##
This is still a beta.

  • Rayondx changed the title to [Tool] PRO Hunting Tool - Shiny Overlay Tracker - (Mobile Version Coming Soon)

I have been using the app for a few weeks now as a tester.

Although I did find a few bugs, the developer has always been super fast and efficient to patch them up and also very listening to whatever improvement/new features i could propose.

It's a cool app and so far I can tell it works and it gives me data that i wish i could have had directly from the game.

For instance I like to compare the % of each spawn during my hunt session or the average ivs I get on my catch with my guildmates. It helps me backing up my claims that I am indeed the most unlucky player out there.

Because the app will tell you all about your shiny/forms encounters.... but that won't help those spawning in the first place 😅

I recommend ! 👌

New Function on the newest update called "Maps".

MAPS — know what spawns where

image.png

What the Maps feature does

Every time the tracker counts a wild Pokémon, it can now also remember which map you were on. Over time that builds up a simple answer to the question every hunter asks: what lives here, how often, and at what level?

Example: you hunt on Route 119 for an hour. Afterwards the MAPS tab shows that Oddish made up 48% of your encounters there at Lv 25–27, Zigzagoon 30%, and Tropius only 2% at Lv 27–28 — so you know Tropius is the rare one.

It can also:

•     Find a Pokémon — type a name (spelling does not need to be perfect) and see every map it was seen on, with its levels.

•     Give a Repel tip — tells you which lead level leaves only the Pokémon you want.

•     Share with other hunters — optional. See what others found on a map before you have been there yourself.

•     Handle several game windows — each window gets its own tab when they are on different maps.

•     Mark members-only Pokémon — tell everyone which spawns only appear for players with a membership.

Good to know:  Maps are completely optional. Without them, the tracker still counts every encounter exactly as before.

Setting it up (about one minute)

You only need to do this once for each game window you hunt in. Have your game open and standing somewhere its map name is showing.

Step 1 — Open your game client's calibration

1.    Open the SETTINGS tab.

2.    Find GAME CLIENTS & CALIBRATION.

3.    On your game window's row, press Edit calibration (or Calibrate zones if you have never set it up).
image.png

Step 2 — Choose the Map name area

1.    In the window that opens, find the row called Map name.

2.    Press Choose area (it says Change area if it was set before).
image.png

Step 3 — Draw a box around the map's name

1.    A picture of your screen appears. Find the place where your game shows the name of the map you are on — usually a small label in a corner.

2.    Click and drag a box around just that name.

3.    Let go. That's it — the box is saved automatically.

Step 4 — Make sure Track maps is on

Go to SETTINGS → MAPS & SHARED SPAWNS and check that Track maps is ticked. It is on by default. Now just hunt — every encounter is filed under its map.

image.png

Reading the MAPS tab

Open the MAPS tab and pick a map from the MAP list. You will see:
image.png

One map at a glance
• The banner — the map's name, when you were last there, how many different Pokémon and encounters, and the level range.
• Spawn mix — one coloured bar showing each Pokémon's share of the encounters. A bigger slice means it turns up more often.
• A card for each Pokémon — its picture, how often it appeared (for example 48%, "48 of 99 encounters here"), its levels and when you last saw it. A 💧 tag means it was met on water.

Members-only Pokémon

Some Pokémon only appear for players who have a membership. The game doesn't tell you which ones, so the tracker can't work it out by itself — but you can tell it, in one click.

Example: you're a member and you keep meeting Tropius on Route 119. Your friend isn't a member and has hunted there for hours without seeing one. Tropius is members-only there — mark it, and your friend (and everyone else) can see why.

How to mark a Pokémon as members only

1.    Open the MAPS tab and pick the map.

2.    Find the Pokémon's card. In its top-right corner there is a small ☆ star.
image.png

3.    Click the star. It turns gold (★) and the card gets a gold ⭐ MEMBERS tag.
image.png

4.    Made a mistake? Click the gold star again and the mark is removed.

Finding a Pokémon

At the top of the MAPS tab, type a Pokémon's name into FIND A POKÉMON. You do not have to spell it right — "bagn" finds Bagon, "drgonite" finds Dragonite. If you might have meant a different Pokémon, it offers a button for it.
For each map it was seen on in the last 50 days you get:
• the map, and whether it was your sighting (🧑 you) or other hunters' (👥)
• its level range there and how often it appears
• when it was last seen, and an Open map button
• a Repel tip (🧪)
image.png

The Repel tip, explained

A Repel stops wild Pokémon that are a lower level than the first Pokémon in your party. So if you lead with the right level, everything weaker stays away and only the stronger Pokémon can appear.

Example: on Meteor Falls, Bagon is Lv 26–28 and everything else is Lv 26 or below. The tip says: lead with a Lv 27 Pokémon and use a Repel — only Bagon should appear.

If another Pokémon on that map reaches the same levels, the tip tells you which one will still get through.

Please note:  The tip only knows the levels that were actually recorded on that map. A Pokémon nobody has recorded there yet can't be counted in.

Old sightings

Spawns change over time. A sighting that is 45 days or older shows an orange ⚠ warning: "might not be there any more". Sightings older than 50 days are listed separately under OLDER SIGHTINGS.
image.png

Fixing a wrong map name

The tracker reads the map name from your screen, and sometimes it gets a letter or two wrong — for example "Lake Wor" instead of "Lake Valor". You can fix it in seconds:

1.    On the MAPS tab, pick the misspelled map from the MAP list.

2.    Press ✏ Fix name beside it.

image.png

3.    Type the correct name. Maps that already exist are suggested as you type. If you type something close to an existing map, it tells you ("Did you mean Lake Valor?") so the same place always keeps one name.

4.    Press OK.

image.png

What happens: every encounter on the wrong name moves to the right one, and the tracker remembers the mistake. The next time it reads "Lake Wor" it files it under Lake Valor by itself — you only fix a misread once.

Automatic too:  A small misread of a map that already exists ("Cerurlean Cove" for Cerulean Cave) is matched to the right name automatically. Maps with different numbers are never merged — Route 110 and Route 111 always stay separate.

Encounters with no map

If the map box couldn't read anything — say another window was covering it — those encounters are saved without a map. The MAPS tab tells you how many there are in your hunt:
image.png
Press 📍 Assign a map…, choose the map, and they are filed under it. Only encounters that have no map are changed.
To fix just one encounter, open the LOG tab, press the ⋯ button on that encounter and choose 📍 Set map….
image.png

Hunting in several game windows

If you hunt in two or more game windows and they are on different maps, the MAPS tab shows a tab for each window — like tabs in a web browser. Each tab shows the window's name and its map. A ● dot marks the window that is in a battle right now. Click a tab to see that map.

image.png

Sharing with other hunters (optional)

You can pool what you find with other hunters, so everyone can see what lives on a map — even places they have never been.
Seeing other hunters' finds
This works for everyone, even if you don't share yourself, have map tracking switched off, or haven't set anything up. Pick a map and scroll to 🌐 OTHER HUNTERS. Maps only other hunters have visited appear in the MAP list with a 🌐 in front.
image.png

To keep it honest, a Pokémon only appears there once two different hunters have seen it on that map, and every hunter counts equally.

Sharing your own finds

1.    Go to SETTINGS → MAPS & SHARED SPAWNS.

2.    Tick Share my spawn sightings with other hunters.

3.    Choose how to send: Automatically (every few minutes and when a hunt ends) or Only when I press Sync now.

What is sent: for each map, which Pokémon you met, how many times, their level range, and any you marked ⭐ members only — for example "Route 110: Wingull ×3, Lv 12–14". Nothing else: no player name, no account, no screenshots, no times.

image.png

Sync now, and the progress bar

Press ☁ Sync now (on the MAPS tab or in Settings) to send your latest sightings straight away and fetch the newest shared lists. While sending, a bar appears. It usually takes a second or two.

image.png

Sending — please keep the app open

Closed the app too soon?  No problem. Closing waits a few seconds for the send to finish, and anything left over is sent automatically the next time you open the tracker.

Taking your data back

Press Remove my shared data at any time. It turns sharing off and deletes everything you ever sent. Your own hunt log is not touched.

Switching maps off

Untick Track maps at the top of the MAPS tab (or in Settings). New encounters are then not tagged with a map. Nothing is deleted — your old maps and other hunters' maps are still shown, and you can switch it back on at any time.
image.png

Questions

The MAPS tab is empty.

Draw the Map name box (section 2) and hunt a little. Each encounter adds to it. You can also pick a 🌐 map to see other hunters' finds.

A level shows "?? – ??".

No level was ever readable for that Pokémon on that map. It fills in as soon as one is read.

The same map appears twice with slightly different spelling.

Pick the wrong one and press ✏ Fix name, choosing the right one from the suggestions. They become one map.

Why does a tier have a ?

There are not enough encounters yet to be sure. Hover over it to see why. It firms up as you hunt.

Is my name or account shared?

No. Sharing is off unless you turn it on, and even then only map, Pokémon, count and levels are sent — never who you are.

Can I see other hunters' maps without sharing mine?

Yes. Viewing never needs sharing to be on.

I never see a Pokémon other hunters report.

Check for a ⭐ MEMBERS tag — it may only appear for players with a membership.

Can I mark a Pokémon I haven't met myself?

Not yet — the star is on your own cards. Once you've met it on that map, its card (and star) appears.

If you made it this far - a little Nostalgia theme for you

New look: the Pokémon Retro theme

Version 3.3 added a new theme inspired by the green Game Boy Advance games: framed white text boxes, cream battle-style boxes, a crisp pixel font and a tiled background.

To use it: open SETTINGS, find APPEARANCE, and choose Pokémon Retro from the Theme list. Switch back at any time — Dark, Light and Olive are unchanged.
