Why can't I catch the three legendary birds such as aritcuno, zapdos and moltres. Are we able to catch any legendary pokemons?

U can catch mew, celebii and jirachi(prob soon) ingame if u achieve some requirements.

 

U are not supposed to catch legendaries like the 3 birds, 3 dogs etc pp, cause they are to overpowered and everyone would use them. => Loss of variation, game gets boring, everyone uses same team.

Why can't I catch the three legendary birds such as aritcuno, zapdos and moltres. Are we able to catch any legendary pokemons?

 

The three legendary birds are for seen data only and can not be caught, as for now the only legendary pokemon that can be caught are Mew and Celebi.
