Berries that increase happiness also reduce pokemon's ev. Each berry give your pokemon +2 happiness and -10 to specific EV but you won't be able to use it when your EV will be equal to 0. Anyway feeding pokemon with berries isn't the best option to increase it's happiness.

 

Other way to easily get happiness is just beating other pokes. For each beaten poke you will get 1 happiness or 5 if you gain lv (also you can use Soothe Bells which will multiply received happiness by 2)

Increase happy by walk + 1 (only slot1) battle +1 and level up + 5, double gain happy by hold soothe bell (hidden item in national park at johto).
