can't do anything when opponent uses bounce

so i was fighting blaine in cinnabar gym, who has a rapidash that know bounce.

trying to use this in my advantage, i head a kingdra with the sniper ability holding a razor claw and when rapidash used bounce i used focus energy with kingdra to raise my critical hit ratio. but it didn't do anything, it just said kingdra used focus energy. the part "kingdra is getting pumped" didn't show up and i didn't get any critical hits.

 

same goes with blastoise and skull bash, it says he used skull bash but his defence didn't get raised and next turn i had to pick a move again.

Can you record these issues you have? and post link in here. I test myself for skull bash and it work normally.

i did beat bain, but next time my opponent uses bounce i'll try and record it. maybe i'll try a battle with a friend
