IV

also known as Individual Values, are hidden stats that every Pokemon has.

They range from 0 to 31 in each stat, and cannot be changed.

 

EV

 

EVs, or Effort Values, are another hidden stat that indicate the Pokemon's training.

you can earn them by defeating enemy Pokemon, different ev needs to defeat different pokemon.

Ev -

Effort value , u can max train 252 in a stat and 510 overall, 4 Evs make up 1 stat point at lvl 100, 252 Evs in a stat are 63 stat points.

1 kind of pokemon gives specific ev , like rattata, it gives speed ev -1 ev per rattata . To know ho to ev a pokemon take help of smogon , just google - smogon <poke name> xy and select tier. It shows what nature is needed and what can be proper evs for the pokemon and also a good moveset.

 

IV -

Individual value, it ranges 0-31 and is random, each iv makes up 1 stat point each at lvl 100 .

Pokemon are limited to 252 EVs per stat, every 4 EVs obtained in a particular stat equals one more point for that stat.

 

Which means, if you have 4 ev points and 1 point will be appeared on the white column.

Every pokemon has a chance of having either 0 or 31 of Total IV's from the moment they're caught. IV (Individual values) are the potential of the stat, EV (Effort Values) are used to boost a said IV to its maximum potential. Every pokemon needs a certain set of IV and EV to fit in their Competitive tier.
