Veetus
Hello! I have found this wonderful game by means of being interested in Pokemon GO. That being said, Pokemon GO was my first Pokemon game I've ever played, and now I am playing this one. I see there are tons of guides, pedias, etc. out there but is there anything that is simply laid out for me? What I should do, what I shouldn't? I just don't want to make the typical noob mistakes. What is a good team of 6 I should aim for, as in what types? Right now I am rocking (all below level 30) a Pikachu, Geodude, Growlithe, Charmeleon, Granbull and Poliwag. I also heard there is some downsides to evolving Pokemon until almost the last level because it takes a lot more XP to level otherwise. But then I also heard you can only evolve when it prompts you to evolve? So what's the point then? Just a super confused noob. Enjoying this game a lot. I don't want to screw up. I don't mind the grind but I also would prefer the shortest grinding path if possible. I don't want to make epic mistakes. I already killed a shiny Ekans and realized it was shiny after the fact. :( Thanks! - Veetus Twitch.tv/veetus Twitter.com/veetus Youtube.com/veetustv Facebook.com/veetustv Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/34813-brand-new-to-pokemon/ Share on other sites

It's great to hear that Pokemon Go propelled you into playing PRO, I hope you'll enjoy your experience here! Your team sounds pretty balanced at the moment. I might suggest dropping Growlithe or Charmeleon since both of them provide the same type coverage, and adding Gastly instead - Gengar (Gastly's final evolution) is extremely potent at the Kanto Elite 4, due to its versatile move coverage. In PRO, evolved Pokemon require more EXP to level up; that's why it's recommended not to evolve them until you're done training them, for max efficiency. If the Pokemon you're training evolves by leveling up, all you need to do is evolve at Level 98 or 99 if you're trying to get it to 100 - you'll get the evolution window prompt each time you level, so no worries about missing out on evolution. (Unless you accidentally misclick "No" at a crucial time, or the server crashes and your evolution data gets rolled back. This is why it's recommended to evolve one level before the maximum cut-off, to allow yourself more wiggle room if something goes wrong.) You can refer to this guide here for a breakdown of helpful information about the game. There's also the Kanto/Johto story walkthrough in case you're stuck at any point throughout the game's plot. If you've got further questions, please feel free to ask here in General Support, or just look around in the Game Guides section. There's lots of great information over there, and the community is always more than willing to provide assistance should you need it. I hope that helps! Best of luck with your game. :) P.S. One part to clarify - and this is my PokeNoobness peaking out I am sure - but when you say accidentally misclicking no at a crucial time - what would that crucial time be? Do you have an example? Sorry about the language, the word I used I had no idea was a curse word on here. - Veetus Twitch.tv/veetus Twitter.com/veetus Youtube.com/veetustv Facebook.com/veetustv Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/34813-brand-new-to-pokemon/#findComment-223108 Share on other sites
Pixiu
219909 Thanks for all the reply and info! This is all helpful. Sorry about the language, the word I used I had no idea was a curse word on here. - Veetus So for example, if you're trying to evolve a Charmander and get it to level 100, it would have two evolution stages - Charmeleon and Charizard. To be as EXP-efficient as possible, you'd want to level it as a Charmander up until it hits either 98 or 99, then start evolving it after that. However, you'll only have 2-3 evolution opportunities, from Level 97 to 98, 98 to 99, and 99 to 100. Let's say you decide to wait till it goes from Level 98 to 99 to evolve the Charmander into a Charmeleon. However, you might click "No" by accident... meaning you'll have a Level 99 Charmander, and no ways of obtaining a Level 100 Charizard (since you'd need to evolve it to a Charmeleon first). Thus, it's safer to evolve once you've leveled it up to 98 instead, since if a mishap like the aforementioned scenario happens, you'll still have a spare level with which to correct the error. I hope this makes sense! Let me know if it needs further clarifying. Rules ○ Terms & Conditions ○ Punishment Policy ○ Privacy Policy ○ FAQ Do not contact staff members for private support.
