I plugged my xbox one controller in and enabled controller. When you try to move it automatically moves you. You cannot re-assign any of the d-pad or joystick inputs.

Xbox one controllers are not compatible with PRO. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I use an xbox controller to play this game. I had to use another program called joy2key though. It lets you map keyboard keys to your gamepad, that way you the game recognizes it as keyboard but it comes from your pad. I don't know why it's necessary to do this, but it works fine for me now.

The game apparently only works with directinput which is really strange as most people will have an xbox or playstation controller. this is a very silly move by the developers which for some, can alienate potential players
