Soooo.... I used heatwave with my charizard and inflicted burn on it with a sliver of health left. The next turn, my charizard dies and then the Articuno dies due to burn...so I got 0 xp for the whole thing. Am I screwed? or does it spawn everyweek or something?

You only can get one chance for battle bird legend, although it only need for seen data and some exp (you cannot catch them). Sadly, if both pokemon die, you cannot get any exp. There have nothing can do this, sorry for your lose....

Sorry about the inconvenience. However, the good news is that you'll now have Articuno's seen Pokedex data entry from your battle with it, even despite losing, so it wasn't all a loss. :)

 

In the future, when fighting legendaries, note that they tend to be rather powerful, so you should prepare properly in terms of your team's levels before taking them on.
