Inspirateur
I guess it's not a surprise but I have to agree again with you jeyelyahoo Even I think you should be more respectful. I'd like very much too see the dialogue continue, because for now I may have missed something but I don't see why it should be this difficult to add new languages, if community do the job, it just leaves a need for a little rework of the access of dialogues, and a big work on inserting thoses datas in the game. Maybe thinking about a clever way to insert the work of the community (no need for public code, again) into the game is worth trying... Jeyelyahoo
Sorry, I didn't mean to seem rude, or disrespectful. This is something I judge important, and I think that if people would even try to find a solution together, we could implement it relatively easily. I don't understand why my help is instantly refused, no one even tried to ask me about my experiences or why I would have liked to help the dev team. Anyway, thanks for the support, I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one caring about it. Zanokkle
Morgoporc
I totally agree with Jeyelyahoo, adding some localisations at least for pokemons or items would be very helpful to a lot of players, including me. We don't know how PRO is scripted, or how much time it'll take to properly implement a localisation system into the game, indeed, but I don't think it would be that hard, and I guess that JeyelYahoo (and others?) would agree. I'm developer since more than 4 years, and bring my free contribution to this project is not something which afraid me, at all. In my opinion, it's pretty sad for you to directly refuse some help to make PRO a better game for everyone... I hope you'll reconsider such a thing! EDIT: It seems you're using Unity for the game client, and C# for scripts, it reinforces my opinion that is wouldn't be that hard. Guest sunsablaze
Just popping in to add my two cents, but I'd love to contribute to the translation if it ever happens, be it a partial translation with pokemon and object names or a full translation of all npc lines. I am pretty much clueless when it comes to the programming aspects, but as for translation itself, though the work might be tedious it's certainly feasible, even more so if it's done by volunteer members of the community. I have worked for close to a decade on various translation projects of many different forms, from articles and short stories to transcribing audio files, subtitling tv shows and translating lines from a visual novel and on a website. Most of these projects were tackled by teams of volunteers, and with a bit of organization and communication there is every reason for the project to go smoothly. Once the workload is split, it really is not as impressive as it might seem at first sight. A lot of projects use systems that allow for contributions offered by many community members on the same file now, such as Viki for subtitles. Once I worked with users of Habitica via Trello and Transifex to translate absolutely every line of the online RPG-like game in dozens of languages and it worked very well overall. Should there be need for a Quality Check supervisor to coordinate the translation work, I'd be fully ready to apply for the position at least from English to French, and I'm confident I could also help translate into German as long as a native speaker is willing to quality check my work in order to make everything sound as natural as possible. My point is, while I may not have much insight to offer on how to solve the issue of granting access to the targeted files to translators, as a student working in the field of linguistics and a veteran translator, I am positive that if given a chance, the project of translating PRO into more languages is manageable, definitely so. I read in the thread that someone argued translations would prevent non-native English speakers from learning more English; I believe the choice of playing with the additional challenge of a foreign language should be up to each player rather than forced upon them.
