266248 Speed is useful if the pokemon has some sort of escape/suicide move at the beginning, such as Teleport or Self-Destruct, and you need to prevent it from doing so.

People forgot to mention that electrode will only ever mirror coat in cerulean cave. So it wont attack you as long as you use a physical move (which false swipe is)

Wild Electrode often use Mirror coat indeed. But if you are running a pokemon which is weak to electric or steel type moves, it can also use Discharge or Gyro ball.
