You can found some mankeys in the tall grass at the left of the first town exactly like you said.

Personnally, i think that the chance of getting it are lower evenn if catch one just an hour ago ^^

Hi, the spawns aren't the same as Nintendo's games, however Mankey does spawn on Route 22. You can check spawns either in your pokedex, on the tracker in the top right or on a spawn guide: https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=8584
