281444 Yes I chose pika as starter, when i talk to Ash npc at route 9 he just says that i haven't met him at viridian [ and i did]. So do i just find the hat regardless?

 

Have you gone back to talk to him again just to be sure? You don't have to beat him to advance the quest.
