I suggest that Route 36 be remodeled.

The map doesn't look natural, lively, eye friendly and relaxing (copied the terms from Red's mapping thread)

For new players entering that map they have to struggle going to Route 37 or going down to Route 35.

 

Well it looked just like that in every Pokemon game. But I agree that compared to some of the revised Kanto maps, Route 36 feels slightly more artificial than it should be. Maybe there could be some wider roads on it.
