I think this topic already been approached, but as i saw that many people has this feeling, im almost sure its not just coincidence. The rate of inflicting status conditions of this moves ( scald, body slam and will-o-wisp ) may be some sort of broken. I became more certain of that when i recently started to play pokemon showndown. As i only had played pokemon's pvp in PRO, i became very surprised how i could miss burn 4 times in a roll using scald :Shocked: , as here if i miss the burn for 3 times i already consider the game is against me haha. so here is the list of the probabilities it fells to me after 800 games in PRO's ranked . ( not an exact number, just an estimative based in my experience and of some friends)

Scald's chance to burn:

should be: 30%

fells to be in PRO: 60% ( as it seems that there is more chance to burn then not)

Body slam"s chance to paralyze:

should be 30%

fells to be: at least 50% ( hav less experience with this move than scald, based almost just with snorlax's body slam, that are more common for me to face here in pvp matches)

will-o-wisp's chance to burn: i really think the rate of w-o-w 's burn here is quite lower then it should be, cuz here when i used it, adquired unconfidence on the move was aways afraid of the miss, and not just one time it misses couple times in a roll ( okay it could be just bad luck, but i wanted to express what im feeling), on the other hand on pokemon showdown it very rare to miss just one w-o-w.

should be: 85%

fells to be: 60-70%

to complete this report, i ask here if someone of the red server could do an statistical work with me, battling , using these moves several times and uses the data to estimate the burn/paralyze rates. lets confirm if is there a bug or not xD

  • random number generation

An acronym for "random number generator" or "random number generation", it refers to the process by which computers generate apparently random numbers, essentially the computer equivalent of 'chance'.

Its RNG, you cant statistically figure that out.

You just get lucky and unlucky.

But lets say a move has a 10% chance to freeze or something.

the code in the server is like this (replace move chance with your number..)

if( (rand() % 100 + 1) < moveChance ) {

do freeze or whatever..

}
