[FIXED NEXT UPDATE] Suggestion: Should "Fake Out (move)" be banned? (actual arguments against and fo

Hello fellow PVP'ers;

as some of you may know out of my recent Battle System Bugs threadFakeout - Priority bug; the Fake Out (move) is currently coded with a +4 priority instead of +3 like it should be ( at least I believe that; more details in the Battle System Bug thread regarding this ).

This is why I want to start a discussion whether it should be banned until it gets fixed or if it should remain the same.

Positive Arguments (in favor of a ban)

  • </B></COLOR>
  • +4 priority instead of +3 which makes it stronger than it actually is
  • breaks Speed Boost leads such as Blaziken or Yanmega (takes huge portions of their health)
  • makes the only counter play available for Fake Out useless since Protect goes second vs Fake Out if the "Fake Out pokemon" is faster (both +4 priority, it's depending on the speed)

Speed examples

  • common Fake Out pokemon
    • Weavile (jolly) ~ max speed 383 (faster than all "common Protect Speed Boost pokemon") ~ hence Fake Out goes first vs Protect
    • Ambipom (jolly) ~ max speed 361 (faster than all "common Protect Speed Boost pokemon") ~ hence Fake Out goes first vs Protect
    • Infernape (jolly) ~ max speed 346 (faster than almost all "common Protect Speed Boost pokemon except a jolly Scolipede") ~ hence Fake Out goes first vs Protect in these cases
    • Medicham (jolly) ~ max speed 284 (faster than "Blaziken and all Protect+Wish user") ~ hence Fake Out goes first vs Protect

    [*]common Protect Speed Boost pokemon

    • Scolipede (adamant/jolly) max speed 323/355
    • Yanmega (modest/timid) ~ max speed 289/317
    • Blaziken (adamant/jolly) ~ max speed 259/284
    • almost every Protect + Wish user is slower than 200 speed

Damage calculations (between 20% ~ 50% damage)

  • Ambipom vs Scolipede/Yanmega/Blaziken
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Ambipom Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Yanmega: 121-144 (38.6 - 46%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Ambipom Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scolipede: 118-140 (45.2 - 53.6%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Ambipom Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Blaziken: 142-169 (47.1 - 56.1%)

    [*]Medicham vs Scolipede/Yanmega/Blaziken

    • 252 Atk Life Orb Pure Power Medicham Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scolipede: 77-91 (29.5 - 34.8%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Pure Power Medicham Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Yanmega: 79-94 (25.2 - 30%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Pure Power Medicham Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Blaziken: 94-110 (31.2 - 36.5%)

    [*]Infernape vs Scolipede/Yanmega/Blaziken

    • 252 Atk Life Orb Infernape Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scolipede: 55-65 (21 - 24.9%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Infernape Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Yanmega: 56-66 (17.8 - 21%)
    • 252 Atk Life Orb Infernape Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Blaziken: 66-78 (21.9 - 25.9%)

Negative Arguments (against a ban)

  • will affect only a small group of pokemon (Ambipom,Medicham,Weavile & Infernape; since they are the most common Fake Out user)
  • Protect isn't much in the meta unless played with Wish or Speed Boost
  • <COLOR color="#00FF00"><B>banning every bugged move isn't an option (look at Leech Seed; it's bugged but still allowed)

My position

I do strongly believe that the overall arguments in favor for a ban overweight the ones that are against a ban (at least the ones I came up with); meaning that PRO shouldn't allow stronger moves that destroy a legit playstyle. The +4 priority (I do not 100% know if it's actually +4 priority, could be a total spaghetti code but it has the same priority as Endure/Detect/Protect but is slower than Helping Hand) severe damages these playstyles hence that is why I suggest to ban it.

Sincerely,

PreHax

<t>How about we stop asking for bans and just play the game, didn't you use a fake out ambipom for yourself?</t>

<r>or leech seed supposedly is only 90% acc but in pro is 100% lol<br/>

funny is drain punch is "bugged" when is only visual bug nothing more and is bannable...<br/>

or Sleep Talk whilst awake (Doesn't consume PP, if you see the opponent not using a move while awake, it's this)... Who is the retarded to use the move awake...<br/>

or fly with gale winds...no one will use a move that will harm him who uses it (no make sense in the list of bannable)<br/>

I didn't understand a single word but yeah, Fake Out has a higher priority than it should have hence I suggest a ban; you just showed another bug with Fake Out but this is negative towards the Fake Out user and not positive (hence it's useless in this case).<br/>

<br/>

It was used against me, almost lost my Pokemon because of a bugged move that has higher Priority(=same priority) than Protect which it shouldn't; I am not asking for stupid salty ban's because people can't handle certain pokemon; I am asking for a ban simply because the move is stronger than it should be; please read the Battle Bug thread and this thread again if you even read it once, thank you very much.<br/>

Hey at least you are mentioning these, since they harm yourself but this Fake Out bug gives you better chances of winning a battle, you gain an advantage with that</r>

<t>I'm sure it's an easy fix and not rocket science. It should just be fixed asap to avoid further problems.<br/>

<br/>

You have every right to create this thread though, not denying anything related to that. But the first solution to non broken mechanics should never be "ban".</t>

I am hoping for exactly that; it shouldn't be that hard to fix but until it's fixed it should be banned (at least that is my opinion; I gave pros and cons).</r>
