Tested in both windows 7 x64 and windows 10 x64, and with dx9 and dx11 on both platforms. Also tested with compatibility mode. When battling, selecting item menu causes game freezing sometimes. As observed multiple times, playing for a short while does not make item menu freeze ... it is more happening on long sessions of playing... It is really annoying to try to capture a rare poke and game crashes for selecting a menu option. :Cry:

Unfortunately this is a well known glitch, and not something that can be fixed currently.

The best and easiest solution is to (every now and then) open your bag, either every few battles, even just to open it, or open your bag manually after every few battles, just to tell the client that it's been opened.

This needs to be done to refresh your backpack.

 

If you experience the crash while in battle, just wait a moment (the longest it's taken me on my old computer was around 3 minutes) and the game should resume, although you may be flagged as AFK.
