I'm just curious if there is something to do in either location, maybe a quest or general point to go to either location?

Trainers Valley has a TM seller with Sword Dance/Roost etc and the Knock Off tutor, some unique spawns and the Nikola boss is located there. It also has a few unique headbutts.

 

Valley of Steel, not only has unique spawns, the Steven boss is located there, you have an entire quest around it and daily tasks to do in that area. It also has a TM Teacher located in there (TM Teacher Flash Cannon). You can get a free pokemon there for example Pawniard or abandoned pokemon such as Aron :)

 

Enjoy those areas :P

Thank you very much, I heard about the quest line in steel just nothing on trainers valley and most searches on the topic bring bug report topics of not being able to get there rather than any list of objectives or reasons to go there in general.

[mention]Ivoryking91[/mention], there is no questline for Trainers Valley and most people don't meet the requirements for it (120 Kanto pokemon and 34 evolved); to actually go there :P
