Going to hijack this for another question and I don't know where else to post.

 

When I'm in a battle, why is there occasionally a sun in the upper right corner?

When you see a sun in the top right corner like in the picture you have shown, that means that one of pokemon on the field (in this case the wild vulpix) have the drought ability. you can read more about the drought ability here. Other weather effects such as sand, hail, and rain also appear in the top right corner as well.

Ah that makes sense. Never would've guessed but now that I realize it's just the ability I feel i should've realized sooner haha. Thanks for the help.
