There is a diffeence between coins and coin fragments. You can trade in 5 coin fragments you can get as a "reward" for playing with a coin at the slot machine to get back a coin which is basically another try at the slot machine.

you can use the coin on the machine next to Pewdie or DiePie. That option on npc can be used to exchange coin fragment (which sometimes earned from the machine) to a game coin.
