Hey guys,

I've been playing Pokemon for a long time but I've only recently started getting into the PVP aspects of the game. I'm having a lot of trouble building a balanced team and was hoping one of you with more experience could help me out.

 

I'm trying to build a rain team because Politoed is my favourite Pokemon, this is what I have so far:

 

1. Politoed

2. Kingdra

3. Ferrothorn

4. Dragonite

5. and 6. Cofagrigus/Bisharp/Chansey/Garchomp/Azumarill/Scizor (I've tried a bunch of combinations)

 

Feel free to suggest Pokemon that are not in my list, I really enjoy hunting for new ones.

What about Excadrill then? That also gives me something to switch into when Politoed or azumarill are about to get t-bolted

I played a rainteam short time ago and I really liked the suggestion of a Careful Scizor, you got Defog, Roost for sustain, Knockoff to be annoing and Bulletpunch as strong Prio. A hp fire Magnezone does nothing to you! Plus its a suprise. I dont like Excadrill here because I dont like squishy spinners in general. And the last Poke maybe a Kabutops, with Swordsdance carry potencial and a Prio wich is outspeeding a Talonflame in rain and another fighting move for annoing Chansey/Blissey. Actualy this was my team then lol. I had no fun against sandteams with it but over all it was okay for me.

Carfeul Scizor sounds great, how should I EV train it? I'm not a big fan of Kabutops though, I prefer sticking to 1 rain dependant sweeper so I don't auto-lose when Politoed goes down to a crit. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hp and Spdef and it still doas a good amount of dmg.

with 4 poke you already have, So this is my suggestion:

1: change your Politoed evs (252 HP, 252 Def,4 SPdef ) 252 evs on HP with 28ivs Politoed will Maximizes its HP also lower damage from StealthRock or leech seed, Maximizes the def Ivs is really necessary to counter some physical attacker like Gyarados, talon flame, donphan... Hypnosis is also an option to replace with toxic to counter common switch in again Politoed like Ferrothorn.

2: Replace dragon pluse with Draco Meteor as Kingdra strongest stab move, Holding choice specs to Maximizes its damage in rain for sweeper.

3: Since you are using an offensive rain team so Gyoball and Power whip is not really useful on Ferrothorn. T-wave, knockoff or protect are much better for it as rain support.

4: you should replace Earthquake on Dragonite with Thunder Punch and holding lum berry. Choice band Dragonite is also an option on rain team to save up your rain's turn instead of Dragon dance Dragonite.

5: I will suggest you "Kabutops"-"Adamant" nature as rain sweeper and also its a good rapid spinner you are missing

6: In the last slot, "Excadrill" with choice scarf and sand rush ability,"Adamant" nature. Exca is a good switch again some threats with rain team like Clefable,Blissey,Magnezone,Togekiss. A good rapid spinner which is really important in PRO. And the best part, its a good sand counter which is a common matchup while using rain team.

Strategy: Choice scarf Excadrill is the most suitable to lead your party, Politoed is also a good choice but dont get risk and sacrifice Politoed too soon.Good luck :Grin:
