Black Medallion is an item that provides a buff to hidden ability chances, meaning all the wild pokemon you will encounter during that 72h buff will have an increased chance to have his.

 

It is not related in any way whatsoever to Membership, which is given by Small/regular/Big MS Medallions

The "Membership" line in the trainer card is for this, and not Black Medallion's buff; to know if you have the latter active, the icon upper left corner of the screen is the only indication ‒and as you mentioned you have it, it is working :Angel:
