I started playing a couple days ago, and I'm still at 7 badges in Kanto.

When do you guys think is the best time to start working on a pvp team? Should I finish the whole story first?

You should finish the story first,to unlock every content.After that being done you can start focussing on a PvP team.There's no rush as PvP is just endgame content ^_^
