I caught a machoke from the cave in the trainers valey and now I want to evolve it into machamp but it doesn't work. I worked up to level 100 and used a mystery candy, but it doesn't work.

I'm currently trying to do the gengarit quest. But I can't beat my opponents, I tried many times but still failed. Finally I decided to look on YouTube. It was going the same way up to a point, but I lost again. can you help me.
