If you've still got the core, at the top of the mountain there's 5 rooms behind some breakable rocks where you have to find the right place to put that core. If it's wrong a pokemon will fight you instead. Hope that helps

Hi there, so I was doing the "Challenger Rik" part of the Vulcan island. He asked me to catch a pokemon and stated it was either Chimchar or Piplup. I decided to see if a previous one caught would work and it told me it was before the assigned time that he had given me the task. I then got another prompt telling me he accepted it and I received 97 points for the Piplup. I've included a video of the process below if that helps also.
