do the evolutions have to be kanto evolutions or can they be johto,hoenn and sinnoh evolutions

i have the dragon medalion and i acedentaly clicked the dragonite so i relogged so i wouldnt battle it because i wasnt rdy and when i logged back in it said dragonite was resting :Frown: :confused: :D:
