Randomopkid
I was fighting the sage boss and chipping with toxic. I used protect, then on the second turn, I used a hyper potion. Does that mean on the third turn I can't use protect again? I don't know if it was a glitch, but it did cost me a boss battle. Can someone clarify how protect works again? Fluffles
I was fighting the sage boss and chipping with toxic. I used protect, then on the second turn, I used a hyper potion. Does that mean on the third turn I can't use protect again? I don't know if it was a glitch, but it did cost me a boss battle. Can someone clarify how protect works again? Hi there. Sorry for the inconvenience. As quoted from Bulbapedia, Successfully using Protect, Detect, Endure, Wide Guard, Quick Guard, Spiky Shield, King's Shield, or Baneful Bunker consecutively now divides the chance of success of Protect, Detect, Endure, Spiky Shield, King's Shield, and Baneful Bunker by 3 for each consecutive use, with a minimum (1/3)^6 (1/729 or ~0.1%) chance. This means that if you use protect without using another move in between, it'll count as a consecutive use. Do note that Protect is stated to be coded incorrectly as stated in our list of bugged moves, Protect: Doesn't work against multi-turn attacks (Bounce, Fly..) and it failing doesn't reset the consecutive Protect usage-counter. Hope this clarifies things for you.
