Sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately the Grinch or Santa will only accept your pokemon if it is better than the current best. The dialogue provided to you means that the pokemon the Grinch currently has is better than the one you're trying to submit. Therefore, unfortunately you'll have to continue hunting and try again.
