Hey guys! :)

I know that in the earlier versions of the Pokemon games if a Pokemon in your party was poisoned it would take damage when walking around and eventually faint once hitting 0 health, thus making the game a little more difficult for such a simple feature. Now before criticizing immediately because I've mentioned it makes a game harder/more time consuming please remember that this is a MMORPG based Pokemon game and longevity should be factored in.

I've done a little research myself online and wondered if this still existed but apparently it doesn't in the newer Pokemon games which has surprised me a little bit to be honest. Surely a simple feature like the above would aid the economy and make it stronger in the game? People will be wanting to make use of berries and pour more money into antidotes and other means of healing rather than running back and forth to Pokemon Centres.

My apologies if this has already been suggested or written about but I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on it as well.

tl;dr

My suggestion is to bring back walking poison damage to Pokemon in your party which have the poison de-buff applied to them. (perhaps even burn to?)

87324 so you could keep walking to pc back and forth even more often? I'm asking for point other than "bringing back old school". majority of the maps aren't the same too, but that doesn't bother you, hm?

Hey there!

If that is how you wish to play the game then sure? I'm thinking more from an economical point of view, if anything. The simple things can make a big difference.

I'm not saying this should definitely happen, it is a suggestion. I'm yet to venture too much further into the game just yet and I'm still catching up quite a bit with modern times but for a game with player to player interaction, being able to have different variables of trade/wealth/items revolving around different statuses in the game helps drive a player driven economy.

Seeing this from both a players view and an economical view, I feel this is a frugal point; as you pointed out, this is not a thing on the newer games, so it would be straying away from the game. Secondly, I do not see how it would aid the economy; During my entire playthrough I think my pokemon "may" have died from poison at most 5 times. That's 500 poke out of my pocket. Except I found enough antidotes walking around to sort that out, in addition to dig spots supplying full heals and antidotes. Add this to the plethora of berries around the place which respawn frequently, there is really no danger of it.

Therefore I feel adding poison damage outside of combat brings no authenticity into the game nor does it aid the economy, and would just proceed to give the devs something to do that isn't needed.

Hey there! :)

Thanks for a more in-depth view on it than the previous.

As mentioned before on my introduction to this forum, I am relatively new and still learning when it comes to the newer editions of Pokemon. I think a point I'm trying to make is that it could help slow down gameplay rather than just having people power level through everything. What people dislike about this type of thing though is just that fact, it is "harder" or a little more time consuming. Pair this with peoples different play styles and knowledge of the general gameplay and I think it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to implement once again. Even if not now it could be something to consider in the future. So far this game has incredible potential to be a superb Pokemon MMORPG.

Here is a quote from around a year ago which I have read surrounding something similar to this:

I once heard someone define RPGs as a game of resource management, and they're spot-on correct. If your Pokemon got poisoned and you didn't think to buy a few Antidotes? You're SOL. But if you DID remember to buy a few? Good for you! You get to keep that Pokemon alive. Now all you really have to do is just keep Potions on hand because you can just heal the Pokemon between battles.

I don't intend to suddenly disown the game because a suggestion is swept aside. I think the constructive criticism surrounding it makes for good conversation. :)
